Archetypal Hypnotherapist since 1989 ©2014 by Anthony S. Wright, Ph.D., CCHT No.308-249 Archetypal Hypnotherapy is a process of bringing harmony within, through altered consciousness All hypnosis is auto-hypnosis. This means that while I guide clients into altered states of awareness, there is nothing I "do" to clients. There is no such thing as "hetero-hypnosis" (that is, that I, the practitioner put the client into a trance state.) Please click HERE to schedule a hypnotherapy session. Archetypal Hypnotherapy is working with clients through the modality of hypnotherapy, in assisting clients to develop rapport and familiarity with their own internal psychic topography. In conversation someone will say "a part of me wants to do one thing, and a part of me wants to do something else." In this process, a gently focused dialog is begun with these parts, in a conscious, kind, and deliberate way. Sometimes there is an inner voice, that seems to have a running commentary on all that one does. Some call this voice the "inner critic" or the "inner parent". As the voice is inside, its difficult to get away from it, and sometimes living with it is uncomfortable to the point of being debilitating if it is harsh or unkind. Archetypes are internalized representatives of cultural values. The Teacher, the Priest, the Parent, the Ultimate Man or Ultimate Woman are examples of archetypes. Archetypes too will have their say and influence in one's inner landscape. The key is to begin the dialog. In this process-oriented non-diagnostic alternative service, complementary to the healing arts services that are licensed by the State of California, the intention is to invite and develop a generative, deepening, and multi-dimensional awareness within clients of their own internal landscapes, populations, dynamics, relationships, and resources for improving the quality of life. Archetypal hypnotherapy can facilitate personal growth, an expanded sense of life purpose, and internal harmony. A major and legitimate criticism of surface-level hypnosis is that shifting the expression of symptoms alone does not address the issue that produced the symptoms, and usually if one symptom is dealt with from a surface approach specific to that symptom, the unresolved issue will usually express itself with yet another and sometimes less tractable symptom. Together, you and I will address the deep, underlying structures and momentums of issues that give rise to the laundry list of presenting symptoms usually associated with hypnosis applications, such as smoking cessation, weight loss, insomnia, and others. Tools and techniques from meditation, mindfulness training, brief hypnotherapy, with applications from depth psychology, Jungian psychology, transpersonal psychology, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Ericksonian hypnotherapy, spiritual counseling and coaching, mystic paths in specific spiritual traditions, Western astrology, the I-Ching (ˆÕãS), Tarot, to complexity science and more, are available to continue the development of functional transparency in non-dual Being. (Please see John Welwood's article "Double Vision: Duality and Nonduality in Human Experience") Though talk is involved, this process is direct, experiential, and immediate- facilitating client discovery and utilization of previously unrecognized deep and natural internal resources. The understanding, activation, and alignment of these resources at multiple levels continues to iterate long after the initial session or sessions, and clients may return from time to time as useful for additional 'tune-ups' as they grow through life's ups and downs. Services to be provided do not include the practice of medicine, as Hypnotherapist is not a licensed physician. These services are non-diagnostic, and are complementary to the healing arts services that are licensed by the state. The California State Legislature has determined that state licensing may not be conferred upon an occupational group for purposes of status or prestige. The primary purpose of licensing laws for legally defined Healing Arts and Mental Health professionals is to protect public health and safety. Accordingly, Hypnotherapists are not issued licenses by any state governmental agency to engage in their professional services. Training and Experience: Initially certified as a Hypnotherapist in 1989, Anthony Wright has been studying hypnosis since 1964. He holds a master's degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco in East-West Psychology (May, 2008), and a doctoral degree in philosophy and religion also from CIIS (May, 2014), with an emphasis on Chinese philosophy and spiritual counseling. Please see Cirriculum Vitae for complete details of Anthony's education and training. His forty-four years of involvement with musical instruments and their owners, forty-seven years experience with the I-Ching, and forty-nine years experience with Western astrology, translates directly in the process of attunement of the psyche, as more than a metaphor for bringing forth deep, stable harmony through functional transparency in soul growth. As an active audio engineer and radio producer of interviews with prominent scientists, academicians, psychologists, artists, and musicians, listening trans-temporally and at depth in the moment guides him in active evocation of unexpected and fruitful awareness. A single parent who had custody of two children, one of whom is developmentally disabled, he has deep compassion and reverence with a fierce advocacy for young people. In accord with the American Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy, founded in 1956 by psychiatrist Milton H. Erickson, M.D., Anthony considers stage hypnosis to be an unethical practice- as hypnosis is far too powerful and psychically intimate a process to be exploited as an entertainment. Traumatic residue from the experience of stage hypnosis has long proven problematic to some participants, and unforeseen consequences do result. However, hypnosis demonstrations for training purposes, with experienced and informed subjects in classroom and workshop situations with qualified professionals is a very different context for the practice of hypnosis. Anthony Wright, Ph.D., is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCHT, No.308-249), Certified through the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners.
