Soul Growth Astrology

For anyone who is at all skeptical or unfamiliar with information provided by birth data through the astrology chart, such information is as useful to the skilled professional astrologer as information gleaned from a client using the current psychometric tests, such as the MMPI, or Myers-Briggs personality indicators, is to the licensed Ph.D. clinical psychologist. Rather than being at all pre-determinative, restrictive, or subjecting anyone to being boxed or pigeon-holed, all of these modalities for exploring personality are indicators of psychic terrain, rather than any proscriptive or dictatorial pronouncement on how someone must or ought to be.
As is well known, depth psychologist Carl Jung found western astrology significantly useful in his professional work. Most recently, Richard Tarnas has authored a thorough and scholarly New York Times best selling book, Cosmos and Psyche, on the influence of the outer planets on planetary and cultural trends over a significant time period. As the Buddha urged, investigate and find out for yourself if what you are presented with is useful to you, for only then will it be meaningful.
Background and Consultation Style
Rather than re-present the very thorough and web accessible treatises on basic and advanced astrology here, I offer to my viewers and clients my background and approach to my work and personal consultation style with Soul Growth Astrology. I invite those who have further deep interest in learning the basics of astrology to first acquire a personal natal chart, and then consult the web. From time to time I will offer basic and intermediate astrology courses. Please contact me for further information on classes offered.
I've been working with the archetypes and configurations of Western Astrology for more than forty years. In conjunction with my study of depth and Jungian psychology, hypnosis, Neuro-linguistic programming, communications theory, music, and piano technology, I have adopted and combined the approaches of note-worthy authors in the field of Western Astrology such as Marcia Moore, Linda Goodman, Demetra George, Robert Hand, Steven Forrest, and most recently, Jan Spiller, to name a few.
Soul Growth Astrology
Through Jan Spiller's work (see Astrology For The Soul) I have chosen to attend more closely to the influence and context of the primary indicator of soul growth in the natal chart, the North Node of the Moon. Jan speaks of the axis of the North-South nodes of the moon as the direction of the Soul's growth. The South Node being the direction which the soul is coming from and the North Node the direction in which the soul, in this life, will experience the greatest growth in expression of the natal chart.
If you imagine the Earth's orbit around the Sun, together with the Moon's orbit around the Earth, the Nodes of the Moon are the spots where the orbits intersect. The North Node is the leading intersection, and the South Node is the trailing intersection.
In my approach to Soul Growth Astrology, in working with the Archetypes of Planets, Signs, and Houses, in the fashion that Steven Forrest so skillfully delineates, both shadow sides and light sides of these Archetypes can be explored. See Forrest's book The Inner Sky. If one thinks of the natal chart as a kind of topography, the Nodes of the Moon can then be used to understand the functioning of both pathology (from the South Node context) and heightened functionality and health (from the North Node perspective).
Utilizing the context of the South Node for the understanding of shadow sides of the Archetypes, and the North Node for evoking the generative bright sides of the Archetypes, one only need invert the basic archetypes by refocusing attention on acting from the context of the North Node, to move from pathology to health.
Holographic Reading
In providing readings for clients, I use primarily natal, solar return, and secondary progression charts, as gateways to reading the psychic hologram of the client. The astrology charts really provide only the starting point for the real experience that is to occur. Equally valid starting points can be had through the observation and analysis of a client's use of language and non-verbal expression.
Client-Based Tension Management
The astrology session is the facilitation of client-initiated, personally generative tension management, of the client's own archetypal terrain. In practice this is a combination of balance of archetypes, and of application of Buddhist principles, in de-emphasizing the instinctive error of separateness.
The goal is transparency to life, in an other than self-conscious expression of living in the present moment.
Entertainment
And of course, all astrology is meant solely for the purpose of the client's education and entertainment, and is in no way to be construed as or implied to be any kind of psychotherapy. I am not, nor am I herein representing myself as a psychologist in any capacity. The client is entirely responsible for their own interpretation of any information presented to them by myself as astrologer.
Scheduling
Please contact me for further information regarding rates, session availability and times. I'm available for parties, and can do a very satisfactory brief 'pocket' astrology reading in 5 to 15 minutes, for a very modest fee per consultation. My usual preferred reading time for clients is 90 minutes.
